quasi una ciaccona

The chaconne is often considered a variation form whose ground is a repeating chord progression. It’s also sometimes considered a variaton form with a repeating bass line. Or, it could be both. Apparently it was also a dance form that appeared in the early 17th century in Spain, purportedly transplanted from the “new” world and also purportedly “suggestive” in its dance steps—beacuse, you know, people were really straight-laced back then.

This one here isn’t really a chaconne, but maybe it’s “suggestive” of one; there’s a sort-of repeating bass line that gives rise to harmonic progressions that come and go. Then there’s some weird “suggestive” dance in this video, but that doesn’t have much to do with the music, actually.
